We’ve had many romantic weekends in Door County. Each one of them was so much fun. We are constantly finding new favorites and hidden gems. Sister Bay in Door County comes alive on New Years Even with a cherry drop and during the summer vacationers head to Door County for Cherry Picking.

Chop

Chop is located right on Sister Bay’s waterfront promenade and features an outdoor seating area where you can take in spectacular views of Sister Bay while you dine.

Inside you’ll find a warm and inviting atmosphere with comfortable booths and charming decor that sets the mood for romance.

The menu at Chop boasts a wide selection of dishes made from locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Their specialty offerings include classic favorites such as steaks, crispy duck, or grilled salmon as well as more creative options such as their wild mushroom risotto or pan-seared scallops. We’ve heard customers remark that Chop has the best breadbasket in Door County.

Fat Belly

This quaint restaurant has limited indoor seating but also has a deck with additional outdoor seating. It’s a little bit of a drive from the center of town, but the 5-minute drive is so worth it.

When you see the sign with upside-down animals you know you are in the right place. Feel free to ask why the animals on the sign are upside down. It’s a story they will gladly share with you.

The sign outside says Fat Belly ~ Bowl – Buritto – Beer. Their specialty is burritos and burrito bowls which you can customize to your liking. Everything is made from scratch and to your liking. My daughter is vegetarian and it was an ideal place for us to eat.

The menu says to choose a bowl or burrito, then pick your protein, pick a style, grab a fork, and enjoy, it’s that easy and that amazing!

All ingredients are sourced from local farmers and businesses when possible. This seems to be a wonderful practice in Door County. Stay local and it’s always fresh. Yum!

Crain’s Kitchen is a casual restaurant ideal for lunch and early dinner. Crain’s Kitchen was opened by Crain at the age of 60. He says the restaurant allows him to do what he loves best, and that is cooking.

The menu at Crain’s Kitchen features roasted meats, sandwiches on freshly baked biscuits, and soups with a southwestern flavor. What they do they do well!

Door County Creamery is charming. It opened its door in 2013 in downtown Sister Bay. This opening was a longtime dream of a young couple, Jesse and Rachael. (Read their story)

The Creamery is a goat cheese-making facility, eatery, and retail store. In addition to their unique menu, they sell cheeses, soap, and goat’s milk gelato.

Sister Bay Bowl is a family-owned Wisconsin nightclub with a twist. At Sister Bay Bowl you can get dinner and bowling entertainment. You can also work off those calories by bowling after dinner.

Sister Bay Bowl’s menu includes what Wisconsin Supper Clubs are known for, good food, a fun atmosphere, and friendly locals. They are known for their Friday fish fry and breaded shrimp.

This is the place where you don’t just stop in for a quick bite to eat, you grab a drink and talk with old or new friends while you wait for your table. You don’t rush through your meal, you enjoy it. And when you are finished you are welcome to stay while and enjoy some more conversation.

McEvoy’s Culinaria Deli

Although McEvoy’s Culinaria Deli is not a traditional sit-down restaurant, there is seating available for something quick. How does a Door County picnic sound? It sounds perfect to us as long as we make a stop at McEvoy’s Culinaria Deli first.

McEvoy’s menu is extensive. Main dishes, such as lasagna, shepherd’s pie, chicken enchiladas, red wine beef pot roast and so much more are available. As well as made-to-order sandwiches and hot or cold paninis. Try their soups or chili, made from scratch in-house. You’ll also want to try their deli salads and pastas.

They are all about the Door County lifestyle and make it easy to grab what you need for a day on the water, a hike, an outdoor theatre, or a romantic picnic while you enjoy Sister Bay.

Roots Inn and Kitchen

Roots Inn is a seasonal restaurant located in a beautiful historic hotel building that feels secluded yet is just steps from the beach.

Roots works with local farmers to source produce used to plan delicious plant-based, vegan comfort food. In addition to vegan-friendly meals, gluten-free food along with farm-raised meats are popular menu choices.

Roots’ menu includes tacos, specialty salads, wings, and their oh-so-delicious truffle chips.

Stabbur Scandinavian Beer Garden

Stabbur Scandinavian Beer Garden was created by Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant in the space next door. The building was constructed from the leftover logs from the construction of Al Johnson’s. In addition to the log building, Stabbur’s consists of a unique outdoor bar and large green space making this a truly unique place for couples to hang out.

The over-21 crowds can enjoy drinks, food, and games. The outdoor bar and restaurant area is filled with green space, picnic tables and pergolas.

The menu included Swedish foods such as loaded mac and cheese, grilled brie and turkey with lingonberries, and Swedish shrimp rolls. To round up your meal Stabbur has a constantly changing menu of draft beers and specialty cocktails.

While waiting for your meal this outdoor beer garden is a fun place for couples to round out their day in Sister Bay. It’s a great place to catch the local game on their giant HD TVs or have a little fun on the grounds playing Jenga or goat ring toss.
