The Ridge Trail, stretching a modest 1/2 mile, ranks among the park’s shorter hikes, perfect for couples seeking a lighter adventure. With a slight elevation rise of 150 feet, this trail reveals almost panoramic views of the park and the majestic mountains beyond.

The Perkins Central Garden Trail

Accessibility – Easy paved trail suitable for wheelchairs

Access the Perkins Central Garden Trail from the Main Parking Lot (P2) on Juniper Way Loop or the two smaller lots on the opposite side of the central gardens on Juniper Way Loop (P6 and P7).

Hiking the Perkins Central Garden Trail in the Garden of the Gods is a remarkable adventure that will immerse you in the heart of the park’s breathtaking red rock formations. This allows you to wander up close to the Kissing Camels and some of the park’s other towering rock formations.

Accessibility – dirt and at times uneven gravel – steep and narrow paths at times

Balance Rock Trail begins at the west end of Spring Canyon Picnic Area (P16).

If you would like to see Balance Rock without hiking, you can drive to (P15) lot. The road passes between Balance Rock and Steamboat Rock. It seems to be a favorite place for visitors to stop and take pictures. We were not the exception.
